If gambling has stopped being entertainment, the quickest route to help is below. None of these organisations are connected to any operator and none of them charge.
Free help in Ireland
- Gamblers Anonymous Ireland runs free meetings across the country and online.
- HSE provides addiction services and can direct you to local support.
- Extern Problem Gambling offers free counselling on the island of Ireland.
- Gambling Therapy provides free online support and moderated groups.
- Samaritans can be called free on 116 123, at any hour, if things feel urgent.
If you are worried about someone else, these services support family members too.
Tools every licensed operator should give you
These are built into the account. You do not need permission to use them and you do not have to explain yourself.
- Deposit limits. A ceiling per day, week or month. Increases are normally delayed by a cooling off period, decreases apply immediately.
- Loss limits. A cap on net losses over a period, which is often more useful than a deposit limit.
- Time limits and reality checks. A reminder of how long you have been playing.
- Time out. A short break, usually 24 hours to six weeks.
- Self exclusion. Closes the account for a fixed term, typically six months to five years. The operator must not market to you during it.
Set a limit when you open the account rather than when you are worried about one. It is a different decision made in a different frame of mind.
What we will not do
We do not run offers aimed at people who have self excluded, we do not describe losses as near misses or almost wins, and we do not present gambling as a way to make money. It is not one. The house edge is permanent and applies to every game in every casino on this site.
Signs worth taking seriously
- Betting more than you planned, or chasing losses to get even.
- Borrowing, or using money meant for something else.
- Hiding how much you play from people close to you.
- Gambling to change how you feel rather than for entertainment.
- Feeling unable to stop once you have started.
Any one of these is reason enough to use the tools above or talk to one of the services listed.
You must be 18 or over to gamble in Ireland. Last reviewed 31 October 2026.
